Will I Have to Make a Police Report?
Adult sexual assault victims are NOT required to file a police report or to press charges. The SACC urgently recommends that sexual assault victims undergo a thorough medical exam to check for injuries and sexually transmitted infections. Any evidence collected will be preserved in case a victim decides to report the assault at a later date.
YOU DO NOT HAVE BE ALONE — Good, caring people are ready to help. If you ARE TOO FRIGHTENED or NEED SUPPORT, call the SACC or your local SEXUAL ASSAULT CENTER to have an ADVOCATE accompany you and support you through this difficult time.
