What Is Sexual Assault/Abuse?
Sexual assault is an act of violence where sex is used by the perpetrator as a weapon to control or dominate his or her victim. Victims are forced, coerced, tricked or manipulated into unwanted sexual activity or contact or sexual awareness. Sexual assault may include rape, date or acquaintance rape, sexual battery, incest, molestation, oral copulation, sodomy, child sexual assault, ritual abuse, marital or partner rape, exposure, exposure to pornography, voyeurism, fondling or sexual harassment.
